The creative results reflect the out-of-the-box thinking of all four. Participating artists are Kathleen Spicer\, oil paint & wood; Kathleen V. Stuart\, fiber & encaustic; Therese Bisceglia\, oil paint & found objects; Michelle McKDavis\, oil paint & thread. Each artist takes traditional painting and sculpture ideas beyond expected boundaries. We think you’ll find the work as exciting and interesting as we do!  Distinctive Aesthetics opened Saturday\, Feb. 7  and runs through Saturday\, March 28. An insightful gallery talk is set for Saturday\, March 7 at 1 p.m.

SUMMARY:Artist Spotlight - Ginny Lassiter
DESCRIPTION:We’re featuring works by abstract acrylic artist Ginny Kelly Lassiter from April 20 – June 20. The owner of Sunset River Marketplace for 20 years\, she sold the gallery in 2022 giving her much needed time to focus on her own artwork. This popular artist finds inspiration in the shapes and shadows of structural elements influenced by forms and spaces. Ginny\, who received her art degree from East Carolina University said\, “I love the process of painting abstracts\, the spontaneity of it and I embrace the value of limiting my palette.”  Ginny has taught here at the gallery as well as Wilson Community College and Barton College\, both in Wilson\, NC. She has also judged and juried shows for Sunset Vision\, Art League of Leland\, and in Wilmington\, NC. Her work has been featured on the covers of Carolina Arts Magazine and Art Guide Magazine. She has also been profiled in Sasee Magazine and South Brunswick Magazine. Be sure to come by and enjoy her featured work!

SUMMARY:Gail Black's Wild Places
DESCRIPTION:Oil painter Gail Black is a native North Carolinian whose landscape work of local marshlands and wetlands is being featured in Wild Places here at the gallery from Sept.18 through Oct. 24 with an opening reception on the 19th from 2 – 4 p.m. Gail’s painting style is representational but e emphasizes a strong abstract structure with contrasting values and bolt paint application that results in paintings that spark excitement with her abstracted view of nature. The strongly textured work portrays a sense of a subject rather than its precise image. Speaking about the wild places left. in the Carolinas\, the artist says\, “These extraordinary and untouched areas are vanishing at an alarming pace. I want to share these places with the world before they have totally vanished and leave a visual record for the future. I hope this visual. history will find homes where they can nourish the viewers’ souls and pass on our mutual love of extraordinary places.” Gail will be generously donating 50% of her proceeds to the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust!
