SUMMARY:Jazz Night - AfterHours Band
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of fine tunes and good company in the artistic atmosphere you can only experience here at Sunset River Marketplace. \nAfterHours is a local band of seasoned musicians you may have seen performing at local restaurants here in Brunswick County. The popular ensemble  will bring their musical stylings to the gallery for two hours of standards and audience favorites.  Sax player Jeff Norris performed with various musical groups in the Philadelphia area before relocating to Sunset Beach. Cip Garcia began studying guitar in high school and then played rhythm guitar in a Chicago jazz duo. Also on guitar is Jim Pope who played bass for the Raleigh group Montage and later for the Vintage Accents jazz group. Drummer Mark St. Clair began his musical education in the Washington DC area during high school. After playing for some time with a country band\, he discovered an interest in jazz. \nJazz Night will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. SUMMARY:Abstract Workshop w/Cristiana Rioli
DESCRIPTION:Abstract art is about expression. In this one-day workshop you will learn to listen your instinct and create two beautiful miniature abstract paintings. \nWe will start your creative journey by scribbling on 6- by 6-inch wood boards with different mark making tools. We will add a little bit of collage using bleeding tissue paper and we will then apply multiple layers of acrylics to create dimension and transparency. Final accent will be added with soft and oil pastels. This is an exciting project for both experienced artists and novices. You do not need any previous experience to join us. DESCRIPTION:Born in Athens\, Greece as an Air Force brat\, Teri M. Brown is not one to let grass grow under her feet. In 2020\, she and her husband rode a tandem bike from Astoria\, Oregon to Washington\, DC raising money for Toys for Tots. She has earned honors for both her fiction and nonfiction writing. Set in Soviet Ukraine\, Sunflowers Under the Snow is a testament to the strength of women who rise to the moment despite their circumstances. Coffee With the Authors is a free event\, but seating is limited so the gallery asks that you call 910.575.5999 to hold your spot.
